Ruffles and Denim

Today is a good day.  It’s Tuesday, which means 1) it’s not Monday and 2) my boyfriend returns from a seemingly never ending work trip tomorrow.  It’s a beautiful Fall day and I’ve been getting a lot accomplished.  I’ve actually been in a good mood since I wore this outfit to run errands yesterday.  This tunic is one of my favorite pieces in my closet, and if you were following my blog last Summer, you know how I feel about this denim jacket. Something about it just puts me in a good mood.  If I could wear it every day, I probably would.

Dressy

I haven’t been getting too “dressy” for work lately.  The office I work in now is slightly more casual than my last and I tend to take advantage of that.  Sometimes, though, wearing dressier clothes to work makes me more productive.  I have a few busy weeks ahead so I guess I should start pulling out the rest of my pencil skirts!

First Timer

I’ve had these shorts for about a year and a half.  This was the first time I wore them.  Have you ever tried something on in the store and loved it, only to get it home and feel like you have NOTHING in your closet that will make it work?  That was case for me and these shorts.  I kept waiting for the perfect occasion, the perfect piece to pair them with, and nothing was working.  I was always a little worried that if the outfit was too casual, I’d look like I was wearing pajamas.  Last night, I decided to go for it.  I dressed them up with a blazer so no one could think I was ready for bedtime.  The great part?  They feel like pajamas.  Why did I wait so long to wear these?

Whimsical

I got this dress a while ago and had been waiting for the perfect occasion to wear it.  When I bought it, I envisioned wearing it to some fabulous function.  Yesterday, when I stepped back into reality and realized that I had nothing fabulous happening in my life anytime soon, I threw it on with flats and a blazer and wore it to the office.  A nice lady on the elevator told me that she loved it and that I looked “whimsical.”  The rest of the day, I felt sad that I waited so long to wear it.  The dress is the fabulous part–who cares about the occasion (or lack thereof)?

Short Skirt

This skirt is great.  It was one of my last minute purchases on May 31 and I am glad that I scooped it up.  It’s super inexpensive so I wasn’t expecting much at all but it’s actually pretty great, quality-wise.  It’s one of those skirts that is completely work appropriate, but only while standing up.  The second I sat down, it hiked up a little further than I’d like.  Good thing the only place I sat today was behind my desk!
