Dressy

I haven’t been getting too “dressy” for work lately.  The office I work in now is slightly more casual than my last and I tend to take advantage of that.  Sometimes, though, wearing dressier clothes to work makes me more productive.  I have a few busy weeks ahead so I guess I should start pulling out the rest of my pencil skirts!

My New Favorite Dress

This is my new favorite dress.  It’s a shift, which is one of my favorite silhouettes, has sleeves, and is leopard print.  What more could a girl ask for?  We went into the J. Crew Factory Store at the beach and my boyfriend bought it for me as a reward for not shopping for three months.  What a guy, huh?  What more could a girl ask for?

LBD Thursday

Well this is quite the opposite of what I wore to work on Wednesday.  And yes, I realize this is technically a skirt and shirt, not a little black dress, but everyone at work kept saying “I love your dress,” so I just ran with it.  Lesson learned: wear bright colors to work and get weird looks.  Wear all black and get compliments.

I had plans to do dinner and a movie tonight but we have been issued a tornado warning.  Looks like date night may have just turned into pizza, sweat pants and a movie from Red Box instead.  Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Back to Business

I wasn’t quite ready to go back to work yesterday after my long weekend so I thought I’d ease back into things with this pseudo-work appropriate outfit.  I started out wearing these pants only on Casual Friday.  At this point, they have definitely become a part of my weekly rotation.  Exhibit A: wearing them to work on a Tuesday.  Maybe I should invest in another pair…  I am ready for the weekend already–thank goodness it’s another long one!

Thrifty Thursday: The Maxxinista

I may have mentioned something about doing a shoe edition of Thrifty Thursday this week, but I have been finding some great things at TJ Maxx lately and I just had to share.  As a veteran Maxxinisita, I am here to offer you some tricks of the trade.

1. Go often.  Discount stores like TJ Maxx get shipment regularly and don’t process it all immediately.  This means there could be tons of great things sitting in the back just waiting for you to find them.  You have to check back often in order to find great pieces at great prices.

2. Sign up for Alerts.  Go to the TJ Maxx website and sign up to receive emails about when they are receiving new shipment.  If you are the first to know, you will be the first to snag the good stuff!

3. Take your time.  TJ Maxx is not the kind of store where great items just jump out at you. You have to be willing to spend some time in the store, sifting through racks and racks of clothes to find those hidden treasures.  But when you do, it will be worth it!

I got these four items for a total of $75.  Now if that is not amazing, I don’t know what is.

I already wore shirt number two to work yesterday.
